.......Gopabandhu Academy of Administration is the apex training institute for Administrative Officers serving in the Government of Orissa. Originally established at Hirakud (near the famous Hirakud Dam) in May 1968 as Administrative Officers Training School (AOTS), the facility was subsequently relocated to the state capital and given its present name of Gopabandhu Academy of Administration after the great freedom fighter and civil society leader Utkalmani Gopabandhu Dash. Its present campus is located at Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar-23, about 10 kms. from Bhubaneswar Airport and 6.5 kms from Bhubaneswar Railway Station.
.........The Academy serves as the focal point and the nodal agency for the implementation of the National Training Policy for promoting good governance. The Academy provides induction training to successive batches of officers of the Orissa Administrative Service recruited directly as well as through promotion and selection. In-service training programmes for middle and senior level officers serving in different departments of the State Government and its Public Sector Undertakings constitute the other major activity of the Academy. Short duration training courses, mostly for senior and middle level officers, being sponsored by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India are also carried out by the Academy on a regular basis. District training of the Indian Administrative Service Officers allotted to the Orissa Cadre is supervised by the Academy.
